UPDATE: Nearly 3,000 still without power in southwest MS

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Nearly 3,000 Entergy customers are still without power in Southwest Mississippi.

The outage is affecting customers in and around the towns of Centreville and Woodville, in Amite and Wilkinson Counties.

About 2,200 customers have no power in Wilkinson County, along with more than 600 customers in Amite County. Entergy spokesperson Mara Hartmann says the outage started just before 4 on Sunday morning.

She says a conductor may have overheated.

Hartmann says the threat of storms will impact how fast crews can work to repair everything.

All power is expected to be restored by noon on Monday.
