If you can't take the heat stay out of the classroom

Good Thursday morning from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles!

We're starting things at 76 degrees and the number of the day is 108. Which is how hot the temperature will feel this afternoon with the heat index! And, it doesn't look like this heat will be subsiding any time soon. Julia Weiden will tell us about it in her First Alert Forecast this morning.

Happening now, Jackson Fire officials are battling a blaze at a home this morning in the Capital City. Ashley Garner will join us live from the scene to see how crews are progressing in putting out the fire.

Plus, a Smith County family says they're a victim of a hate crime. Now, the man they are accusing is speaking out.

And, several public schools in Jackson are in session without air conditioning. This as we are enduring the hottest temperatures of the summer. Now, parents of students are voicing their frustrations over the hot conditions to district leaders.

Those stories and more are heading your way.

Please join Joy Redmond and me from 5 to 7.

Have a great Friday eve!
