JULIA'S FORECAST: Hot & humid with PM storm chance

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

We're in the midst of a very hot and humid stretch of weather. This is the time to pay extra attention to heat safety tips, including: stay hydrated, keep cool indoors in the air conditioning, wear light clothing, and avoid spending time outdoors from 10am-2pm.

High temperatures will reach the mid 90s today on the thermometer, but adding in the humidity it will feel more like low 100s. The heat index could be as high as 108°. Otherwise expect mostly sunny skies and a light breeze out of the west at 4-8mph. Lows tonight will drop to the mid 70s.

Heat will only build over the next several days through the weekend. High temperatures will come up to the upper 90s, with heat indices remaining in the low 100s. Sunny skies will be present nearly every day through Sunday.

Our pattern will change starting early next work week. We're reintroducing the chances for showers and storms on Monday, with temperatures coming down a few degrees into the low 90s
