BRANDON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

What could be better than live music, a carnival, snow cones and playing with adorable puppies all day?

And better yet, what could be better than helping to support and raise money for Jackson's true no kill animal shelter while having all that fun?

Community Animal Rescue and Adoption, known to most at CARA, is having its largest fundraiser of the year, the 7th annual Dog Days of Summer, on Saturday, August 23rd. The festivities will last from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Pelahatchie Shore Park on the reservoir!

CARA is encouraging everyone to come out for all the fun. You can even bring your leashed pets!

There will be a little bit for everyone at the fundraiser.

Some of the events at the fundraiser include a dog parade, a pet contest, live music by Steve Deaton, and a silent auction.

There will also be a children's carnival that costs $5 to enter. The carnival will include a petting zoo by the Jackson Zoo, photos with Disney characters, Inky the clown and more!

Dog Days of Summer has a number of vendors who will be there all day. There will be plenty of food, a blessing of the pets, an arts and crafts market, and agility, obedience and K-9 unit demos.

Petco Foundation is once again the hosting sponsor of Dog Days of Summer, with WLBT as the media sponsor.

Y101 and Mix 98.7 FM will be broadcasting live from the event.

Voluntary admission is a bag of dog food.

And last, but certainly not least, there will be 18 adoptable CARA dogs at the event looking for their forever families. Could that be you?

Please come out to support CARA on Saturday and join them for a day of fun out by the reservoir!

Who knows, you might just come home with a brand new furry friend!
