HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

One person was injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle accident on I-20.

According to MHP Trooper Eric Henry, the accident happened around 9:50 p.m. Saturday on I-20 East near the Edwards exit.

Trooper Henry said a Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on I-20 at the time a Honda Civic was traveling westbound.

The driver of the Honda, Kelly Mattix, 21, of Oxford lost control of her vehicle and crossed the median into the eastbound lane striking the F-250.

Mattix was transported to UMC with injuries. A dog inside the vehicle with Mattix was killed in the crash.

Candance Abritton, 29, of Farmersville, LA. was driving the F-250 with passenger Beth Ball, 24, of Spearsville LA.

Henry said no one in the F-250 was injured.

Abritton's F-250 was pulling a 40 foot trailer carrying horses.

The horses were unloaded off the trailer and transported to another location by another truck and trailer.

Henry said the accident is still under investigation.
