UTICA, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The long arm of the law just grabbed a wanted man from Hinds county. Earnest Bozeman was busted in Alabama by U.S.Marshal's. Ironically, Utica's police chief initially thought it might be the man he has a felony warrant out for.

Our search uncovered that Earnest Paul Bozeman is a relative and still on the run. The Utica police chief was hopeful authorities caught the man who is accused of ripping a Utica woman off for over $43-thousand dollars for an unfinished roofing job.

The older Earnest Bozeman was arrested Thursday in Alabama on a fraud charge. The younger Earnest Paul Bozeman was tracked to Alabama where lawmen lost his trail.

The older Bozeman and the younger Bozeman, relationship unknown, lived on Bozeman road in Terry. The 31 year old Bozeman is still on the run.

Julia Shorter said Tuesday she was scammed by the licensed contractor. She thought he was honest.

"Yes I really did," said Shorter. "It seemed like he was an honest man but he was a crook, a very bad crook. If I just only knew, but sometimes you just don't know."

Our 2013 investigation discovered the State Board of Contractors revoked the younger Bozeman's license and fined him $5,000.

The Utica police chief said he's the man they have cast a wide net for. We showed him an arrest photo.

"No, this is not the one I had a warrant out for. He's much younger, said the chief.

Disappointed the contractor that allegedly ripped her off is still on the lam, Julia Shorter continues to hold out hope for justice. She remains displaced and does what she can to pay for modest repairs to the home she lived in for 33 years.
