Historical canoe discovered in Lawrence County

A few clouds and hot in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

A canoe, under water for more than 100 years, surfaced in the Pearl River in Monticello last weekend. Now it's at Turcotte Lab in Madison County.

Also, a Jackson police officer has been hospitalized after being attacked in south Jackson, while he was making an arrest.

Plus, in response to the American Humanist Association's Appignani Humanist Legal Center's letter sent on Aug. 25, the Jackson Public School District has agreed to eliminate religious activity, including prayers and sermons, at future convocations for its faculty.
