R/C racers hit the track in weekend competition

FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

If you love the thrill of racing at high speeds, but don't want the risk of strapping in behind the wheel then the Flowood R/C indoor track is the place to be.

More than 300 remote control car racers are competing in "Bring the Heat 2014".

This is the largest of six special events that attract pro racers from across the country to the city owned indoor facility.

Expert racers have power at their fingertips and are running in 12 different classes.

A new track layout was designed for this weekend's special meet.

The pros are also in attendance, including three time R/C national champion Adam Drake from Ontario California and Billy Fisher from Mesa Arizona.

"You buy them in kits, and you build them yourself. You can go anywhere from $500.00 where you can be competitive with a remote control vehicle up to about $2,000.00 per vehicle," said Flowood RC Indoor Park manager Bubba Barham.

This is the fourth annual "Bring the Heat" Race. The Main heat begins Sunday at 9 a.m.
