JULIA'S FORECAST: A cold front approaches....

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Good morning!

We're watching a couple of different things going on in the First Alert Weather Center. Firstly, just like the past several days, we'll have moisture radiating off of the Gulf Coast, providing the spotty shower or thunderstorm. As a result, most of the day will be hot and humid with a high in the low 90s.

The second storm system we're watching is a potent cold front that's already swept across the Northern Plains and the Midwest. Today, that front will bring rain and thunderstorms mainly to areas well north of the Jackson metro area. Flash flooding is a possibility in the northern portion of the state.

Tomorrow, the threat for showers and thunder around the Hinds/Rankin/Madison County area will increase as the cold front slows and possibly even stalls over us. By Saturday, it should pass to our south, lowering the threat for rain and decreasing the temperatures and humidity. Can't rule out the occasional shower or storm, but overall the weekend looks cooler (mid 80s) and quiet with more tolerable humidity levels.
