Jackson's foodie culture is something that has grown in recent years and to highlight the Capital City's diverse restaurant choices Eat Jackson will celebrate Jackson Restaurant Week.
Eat Jackson is a local food media company that writes about chefs and restaurants. Instead of focusing of focusing on 'everything', their focus is on food.
"The Jackson food scene has come a long way in the last 5 years," says Eat Jackson's founder, Andy Chapman. "We're actually toasting that with our VIP party that's going to kick off Restaurant Week."
Eat Jackson's VIP party will be on Wednesday, September 24, at the Old Capital Inn from 6 pm to 9 pm.
Chapman says that 18 to 20 restaurants will be serving food. Capital City Beverages and Southern Beverage Company will be serving beer and there will be cocktails available, as well.
Chapman says, "We've had more great restaurants open in the last 5 years than we probably have the 15 years before that."
Tickets for the VIP party are $35 each.
Eat Jackson is also having a Jackson Restaurant Week Charity Raffle to fund the $10,000 charity check for the 2014 Jackson Restaurant Week.
The grand prize is valued at over $2,500 and includes the Kamado Joe Classic Grill with cart & heat deflector, Kamado Joe Blow Lighter, Kamado Joe Charcoal, Companion Pro Chef 4 Piece Grill Set, afternoon backyard grilling class at your home with grilling expert & local chef courtesy of Eat Y'all Outdoor Cooking School, Country Meat Packers Grocery package & Gourmet Food products courtesy of Sugar Taylor Sauce.
Even if you don't win the grand prize, you could win some great shopping and dining packages with the second and third place prizes.
The raffle tickets are $20 each.
