2015 Induction Class of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame announced

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

On Thursday, the 2015 Induction Class of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame was announced.

Here they are:

1. Mike Dennis - Star running back for Ole Miss. He played for the Los Angeles Rams. He played for Hall of Famers John Vaught and Jack Carlisle. 

2. Steve Knight - Head basketball coach and athletic director for William Carey University and the all-time winningest college basketball coach in Mississippi. 

3. Fred McAfee - "Fast Freddie" was a speedy running back for Mississippi College before being drafted by the New Orleans Saints.

4. Clarence Weatherspoon - He was a basket star at the University of Southern Mississippi and the Philadelphia 76ers. He averaged a double-double. 

5. Gwen White - a pioneer for Mississippi women's sports. She is a member of the Mississippi Association of Coaches and Belhaven University's Hall of Fame. 

6. Brett Favre - a Mississippi native and all-time great quarterback for the University of Southern Mississippi. A 20-year veteran of the NFL, he played for the Atlanta Falcons, the Green Bay Packers, the New-York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings. 

Five of the six inductees are native Mississippians and all six played for a college in Mississippi.
