Dak Prescott wraps up week with five national awards

STARKVILLE (HailState.com) Following 373 yards of total offense and three total touchdowns in a 34-29 victory at No. 8 LSU this past Saturday night, Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott was named Maxwell Award Player of the Week and Manning Award Quarterback of the Week Thursday.

The signal caller has now totaled five national player of the week awards since Sunday (Davey O'Brien Award Quarterback of the Week, Athlon Sports Player of the Week and 24/7 Sports National Offensive Player of the Week) in addition to being named the Southeastern Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Prescott earned his first Maxwell Award Player of the Week honor after dominating the nation's No. 3 defense in Tiger Stadium, leading State to its first victory in Baton Rouge since 1991. The quarterback directed the Maroon and White to 570 yards of total offense, the most by MSU in SEC play since 1991 (593 vs. Kentucky), and the most allowed by LSU since current Tigers' head coach Les Miles arrived in 2005. The Maxwell Award is given yearly to the top collegiate football player in the country.
