JULIA'S FORECAST: Hot for the State Fair Opener!

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Good morning!

It's the first day of the Mississippi State Fair, and it's going to be HOT! High temps today will reach 90, which is about 5-10 degrees warmer than average. We're expecting a good amount of moisture in the atmosphere, which translates to humidity and a few afternoon showers. Otherwise, expect sun with building clouds.

The breeze will steadily increase over the next 24 hours as a cold front nears. We've been keeping a close eye on the latest models here in the First Alert Weather Center, and the newest information suggests that we could see scattered showers and storms developing Thursday afternoon. Thursday will still be very warm in the upper 80s and low 90s.

The front should arrive late Thursday night and early Friday morning, which is when strong to severe become possible especially in the Delta. These storms will continue approaching the Jackson Metro Area through the AM commute, and will progress eastward into the afternoon. Most will be clear by Friday night.

Weekend conditions will be phenomenal! Sunny, low humidity, and much cooler in the mid and upper 70s.
