PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The city of Pearl is a little safer after police nabbed a wanted man who had illegal drugs, they believe, with intent to sell. This is not the first time Pearl Police have tried to pin down the wanted man who has been hiding out in Hinds County.

Just last week Thomas Bodker led police on a high speed chase and got away. This time he was arrested.

"Handguns, marijuana, other illicit drugs, hydrocodone, methamphetamine; we do believe there is evidence there to indicate he had full intent to distribute," said Captain Brian McGairty.

Those are the items Captain McGairty says they took out of 35 year old Thomas Bodker's car after he led police on a high speed chase from Southern Grounds Mobile Home Park.

"As he came out on to Highway 80, a technique was used to block him from the highway to protect the safety of all motorists on the highway, because we knew he had fled us once before," said McGairty. "When that technique didn't work, he overtook the officers vehicle almost colliding with the officer and striking the officer's car."

Police chased Bodker to where he side swiped an 18 wheeler and crashed. Bodker and the passenger in the car, 18 year old Rachael Grubbs took off on foot.

"He fled and his passenger fled on foot into the cemetery, located nearby and both subjects were taken into custody without incident," added McGairty.

The convicted felon now has four more charges to add to his wrap sheet; felony fleeing, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of controlled substances and resisting arrest.

Bodker and Grubbs were both taken to an area hospital for evaluation. Police say if they have any injuries at all, they are not life threatening.
