JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Jackson police say four unknown black males broke into the home of an 83 year old woman who lives alone on Arbor Hills Drive early Friday morning. Neighbors say the woman suffered a broken arm, and was hospitalized.

Police say the intruders held a gun to the woman's head while they went through the home, looking for valuables.

That don't make no sense," said Mary Jackson, who lives two doors down from the victim. They shouldn't have done that poor old lady like that. She didn't do anything to nobody."

The two houses between Jackson and the victim are both abandoned, which she believes create a haven for crime.

"Hurting old people, it's just not worth it," added Jackson. "They need to get this grass and stuff cut over here in this neighborhood. I've been begging them. If they had, I might have been able to help the lady but I can't see down there."

Two weeks ago, the victim's neighbor shot a suspected car burglar in the face, after he tried to hit him with a car stereo.

Police say there were no signs of forced entry into the victims home. Neighbors believe the intruders may have had a key, which they had stole from the elderly woman, days before.

"I don't understand why these people acting so foolish and stupid around here trying to hurt these old people that can't defend themselves," said Jackson.
