Somehow, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are locked in a tie for No. 3 in the AP poll. It's the first time in history that the two Magnolia state programs are ranked in the top 10 together, much less the top five.

Mississippi State also received two first-place votes in the AP poll. It's the highest ranking for MSU in program history, besting the No. 7 AP poll mark from Oct. 31, 1981.
