Woman wanted by Sheriff's Department after Rankin County fire

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Charlotte Love Walton is now wanted by Rankin County officials for questioning about a fire that destroyed a mobile home on Monday.

Shortly before noon, officials were called to B Street in Robinhood subdivision in Rankin county. A mobile home was burning to the ground.

"The fire personnel were able to extinguish the fire and find out that no one was in fact left in the residence," said Chief Investigator Raymond Duke. "However, arson investigators are on scene and have determined that it was a set fire. Now we are looking for an individual we have good evidence to believe is responsible."

Investigators say the fire started in a bedroom and quickly spread.

They tell us one female adult, Walton, was in the home. They believe she ran away from the scene and might be "hiding in the woods."

Reportedly, her boyfriend received texts that my have indicated she started the fire on purpose.

"It appears she was in a relationship with one of the occupants of the residence, and they had a domestic," said Duke.

Walton has several outstanding warrants including domestic violence and failure to appear.
