Alcorn State cracks FCS Coaches Poll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – It took 14 fourth-quarter points but North Dakota State earned its 29th straight victory on Saturday to remain the top-ranked team in Football Championships Subdivision (FCS) Coaches Poll this week.

Two new teams joined the ranks this week. Indiana State entered the poll at No. 22 after topping then No. 10 Northern Iowa, 20-19. Alcorn State followed at No. 24 after improving to 5-1 on the season with a 33-7 victory over Alabama State.

Ten conferences were represented among the 25 teams. The Missouri Valley Football Conference led all conferences again with seven teams in the top 25. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) placed four teams in the poll with the Big Sky and Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) following second with three schools apiece.

The FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and is administered by the Southern Conference.
