BIRMINGHAM (GoStatesmen.com) - Delta State University football received a pair of Gulf South Conference weekly awards as Tyler Sullivan was named GSC Offensive Player of the Week and Diego Lubin was awarded GSC Defensive Player of the Week.
Sullivan claims his second honor of the season and fourth of his career after leading DSU to a 58-20 win at Florida Tech in Thursday night's GSC Game of the Week. The sophomore completed 24-of-41 passes for 456 yards and five touchdowns, while also adding another TD on the ground. The Louisville, Miss. native bounced back from a 1-for-8 start, completing 23-of-31 passes the rest of the way. His five TD passes were the most in the GSC this season and his six total scores were tied for tops for the year.
Lubin captures his first-ever award after spearheading Delta State's defense in its win over FIT. The senior recorded six total tackles and posted a game-high 3.5 tackles for a loss of 16 yards and two sacks for nine yards. The Winter Haven, Fla. native did not stop there, forcing one fumble and recovering another fumble.
Delta State will host Shorter University at Parker Field-McCool Stadium on Thursday Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. in the GSC Football Game of the Week.
