Rankin Co man sentenced for gratification of lust involving 12-year-old

A warm Thursday afternoon with puffy clouds in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

Madison and Rankin Counties' District Attorney Michael Guest announced that a Rankin County man has been sentenced after he sexually abused a child.

Plus, another Chilean flamingo is dead and a suspect involved with the incident at the Hattiesburg Zoo is now behind bars.

Also, 16-year-old Terrance Stuckey was found dead end of East 7th Street in Yazoo City last night, the result of multiple gun shot wounds.

And Pike County authorities say a 6-year-old shot a 4-year-old but it appears to have been an accident and the child will recover.

In sports, Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin wants the school's fans to practice proper "cowbell etiquette" when the No. 3 Bulldogs host No. 2 Auburn on Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.
