Charlotte Love Walton, a suspect in an arson fire that destroyed her boyfriend's mobile home earlier this week, has surrendered to the Rankin County Sheriff's Department.

The fire started on B Street, in the Robinhood subdivision Monday, shortly before noon.

"The fire personnel were able to extinguish the fire and find out that no one was in fact left in the residence," said Chief Investigator Raymond Duke. "However, arson investigators are on scene and have determined that it was a set fire. Now we are looking for an individual we have good evidence to believe is responsible."

Investigators say the fire started in a bedroom and quickly spread. and that one female adult, Walton, was in the home. They believe she ran away from the scene and might be "hiding in the woods."

Reportedly, her boyfriend received texts that my have indicated she started the fire on purpose.

"It appears she was in a relationship with one of the occupants of the residence, and they had a domestic," said Duke.

Walton had several outstanding warrants including domestic violence and failure to appear. No word on whether she's been charged in connection with the fire.
