Passengers at Jackson Int. Airport removed from airplane after malfunction

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Several passengers at Jackson International Airport had to rebook their flights due to an incident with the aircraft.

This happened just before noon Sunday.

Airport officials said the US Airways flight was headed to Charlotte when the grounds crew apparently pushed the aircraft too far and the rear wheel ended up in the grass.

The airport's PR representative Gene Moore said once the wheel got stuck in the grass, passengers safely got off the plane and went back to the terminal.

There were about 67 passengers on board.

US airways had to rebook their reservations and several passengers were upset because their flights were rescheduled until the morning.

Fortunately there were no injuries.

Moore says mechanics spent the afternoon inspecting the plane and repairs should be done shortly.

But, as for those passengers, a lot of them will be spending the night in a hotel.
