Witnesses: Two drivers shooting at one another leads to multi-vehicle wreck

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Witnesses said an apparent shooting between two drivers led to a multi-vehicle wreck in north Jackson Sunday night.

We're told it happened at around 6:15 p.m., when one driver began shooting at another vehicle near the Walgreens on Hanging Moss Road.

One witness said three shots were fired, and those gathered at the scene said drivers of both vehicles were firing at each other as they made their way through the intersection, passing Northside Drive.

The pursuing vehicle continued on Hanging Moss, sideswiping two SUVs and hitting a car head-on.

That collision sent a child to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to the driver of the car.

After the head-on collision, a witness said the driver of the pursuing vehicle got out and ran into the McDonald's across the street.

He appeared to have a shoulder injury.

Several witnesses said the man left the scene and was not arrested by Jackson Police.

Witnesses also said the vehicle that was being pursued, and that fled the scene, was a gold Mercury Grand Marquis.

JPD has not confirmed the details of this incident.

We will continue to follow this story and bring you more details as they become available.
