JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Mississippi State University is the new No. 1 in the AP college football poll after beating Auburn 38-23 on Saturday, its third straight victory against a top-10 team.

Mississippi State fans from all over are celebrating the win...even all the way in the Big Apple.

MSU Interior Design students took a field trip to New York City to visit museums, get some exposure to the latest design trends...and ring their cowbells.

Senior Interior Design student, Anabel Wilson of Jackson, said that before Mississippi State went up against Auburn, she and her fellow classmates made a pact.

"We said 'if we beat Auburn, we're gonna go to the TODAY Show.'"

The students in the Interior Design program all attended the game on Saturday and celebrated the big win that night, even though they had to leave for New York by 1:30 am on Sunday.

Wilson says their mission on Monday morning in New York was to head to the TODAY Show and 'rep our state'.

They arrived at Rockefeller Plaza at 5:15 am and made it to the front row. They came bearing signs that read "#HA1LSTATE", "#DAK4HE15MAN", and one girl even brought an MSU flag to hang over the railing.

And they got the TODAY Show's attention. That's when Matt Lauer came up and asked Junior Interior Design student, Emily Hardin of Calhoun City, if he could ring her cowbell.

The TODAY Show also tweeted a picture of the fans with Natalie Morales.

And Wilson didn't hesitate to take the opportunity to take some pretty cool selfies.

Wilson says, "It was awesome. They were the nicest people!"
