McComb native will play in World Series

KANSAS CITY (WLBT) - A Mississippian has played a big role in the biggest story in baseball. Jarrod Dyson's speed has translated to plenty of playing time.

Kansas City swept Baltimore to clinch their first World Series appearance in 29 years. The Royals won Game 4 Wednesday by the score of 2-1. Dyson appeared in the top of 7th inning as a defensive substitution. He grounded out in the bottom of the 7th.

2-1 was also the scoreline in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series.

Dyson pinch-ran in the 6th inning with the game tied at 1. A Eric Hosmer single advanced Dyson to 3rd. With one out, Billy Butler popped up to left field. The sacrifice fly was deep enough to score Dyson, and that would end up being the winning run.

Jarrod hit .269 in the regular season with a home run and 24 RBI. In the playoffs, Dyson has 2 runs and a steal.

The Royals will face the Cardinals or the Giants in the World Series. Game 1 is Tuesday, October 21st. You can watch the entire series on FOX 40.
