BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A Brookhaven man has been denied bond on charges related to a fatal accident in which two high school football players died. Prosecutors say 18-year-old Charles Acy is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in the deaths of Shaquan Richardson and Javonta Dickey.
The Daily Leader reports Acy made an initial court appearance Thursday. He is represented by a public defender. No trial date has been set.
Authorities say Acy's Hummer collided head-on Tuesday with a Ford F-150 in which two players were riding.
Richardson and Dickey, both 18 and seniors at Brookhaven, had just left a softball game when the accident occurred.
Acy is being held in the Lincoln County jail.
If convicted of vehicular homicide, Acy could be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years.
