The Hinds County Emergency Management Agency says they are working very closely with the Mississippi State Department of Health, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, Department of Environmental Quality and area hospitals to ensure the safety of the citizens and of first responders in the event that an ebola case is confirmed.

Hinds County was awarded a $10,000 Homeland Security Grant for Hazardous Materials Equipment that was used to purchase Personal Protection Equipment for the first responders in the county to use if and when they respond to a call where a case of ebola is suspected.

This information included protocols for 911 dispatchers within the Public Safety Answering Points in Hinds County and the proper use of PPE and decontamination procedures during and following a call involving a possible ebola patient.
