LINCOLN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating an accident late Friday night in which four young people were killed and several others sustained serious injuries.

MHP says at 10:52pm, A Chevrolet Pickup truck driven by 40 year old Donald Dickerson of Brookhaven was traveling east on US 84.

A Dodge Stratus was traveling south on Watts Lane and attempted to cross US 84.

The pickup truck crashed into the Stratus on the right side.

17-year-old Dustin Hall of Bogue Chitto, who was driving the Stratus, was taken to UMC with life threatening injuries.

19-year-old Nicholas King of Brookhaven, 17-year-old Kylee McCord of Bogue Chitto, 17-year-old Curtis Gunnel of Bogue Chitto, and 16-year-old Faith White of Brookhaven were pronounced dead on the scene. They were all inside the Stratus.

22-year-old Ricky Williams of Brookhaven was taken to Southwest Regional with moderate injuries. 18 year old Linza Black of Brookhaven was taken to Kings Daughters Medical Center with a complaint of pain. They were also inside the Stratus.

In addition, 23-year-old Shawn Williams of Wesson was transported to KDMC with moderate injuries, and 23-year-old Aireona Allison of Bogue Chitto was transported to UMC with life threatening injuries. Dickerson was transported to UMC with moderate injuries. They were inside the pickup truck.

Cody Caves says McCord and Hall are his cousins.

"It hurts. It's sad," he says, adding that the group was headed to a bonfire at Gunnel's house. "I think they was coming from town is all I know."

Luke Ferrell was good friends with Gunnel.

"He was a character to be around. You never see him in a bad mood, he was always happy," Ferrell tells us.

The accident is under investigation.
