Homicide suspect at large following SWAT situation

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance says a homicide suspect still remains at large tonight after a SWAT situation outside of a home on Abraham Lincoln Drive.

People who have been living in the Presidential Hills neighborhood for years say they've never seen anything like this.

Around 1:15 pm shots rang out at a home in the 6600 block of Abraham Lincoln Drive.

Hinds County Coroner confirmed 35-year-old Tony Adams was found dead on the scene.

Hours after the shooting, police say a man barricaded himself inside of the home.

JPD, Clinton Police, Hinds County Sheriff and members of the SWAT team spent hours outside the home.

But when officers finally went in no one was there.

"We've rendered the house safe. We don't think a suspect or suspects is in the area. The person who we think may be responsible we're convinced from this point he's not here," says Chief Vance.

Police say that the suspect or suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous.
