AMITE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - We have an exclusive one-on-one interview with the father of a woman found dead in a rural part of Amite County.

We also have exclusive video of  31 year old Justin Whittington just minutes after he was charged with one count of desecration of a body and one count of tampering with physical evidence following the death of 26 year old Brittany Gill.

"It's just hard to explain," said Jackie Day, Gill's father. "You lose a child and, like I said, you just realize how much you have."

Brittany Gill's body was found in a rural area in Amite County Monday. Day says his daughter and Whittington were dating at the time she went missing.

"She didn't come home Sunday night," said Day. "And from my understanding, maybe she was missing a day or two before that. It was late Monday evening before we found out anything. Right now the rumors are running so rampant.  I ask everyone to please just ignore them until Sheriff Wroten has time to do an investigation and we can get some facts on this and find out exactly what happened to her."

Amite County Sheriff Tim Wroten says Whittington came to the sheriff's office Monday and said there had been an accident. Whittington then told investigators the accident occurred at an oil well site in Wilkinson County and he then moved Gill's body to a site in Amite County.

Gill's father says Brittany is a twin and has three young children who are trying to cope with losing their mother.

"I just would like for everyone to keep the children in their prayers because they are going to need it," said Day. "They've got a tough life ahead of them."

Day is asking anyone with information about the death of his daughter to come forward to investigators.

The Amite County Sheriff's Office is working closely with the Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations to solve the case.
