Jackson airport weighs ebola screening question

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Ebola screenings are happening at airports across the country. Now, tests to check for the disease could become a reality for passengers coming through the Jackson Evers International airport.

The City of Jackson Planning Committee is meeting at 2:30 Thursday afternoon to discuss temperature checks for arriving passengers.
Jackson Councilwoman Larita Cooper-Stokes introduced the idea during last week's City Council meeting.
Cooper-Stokes said temperatures would be taken with a "no touch" device."

"It appears to be like a wand and you would hold it close to the forehead of the individual and it does not touch so I'm sure that's important to public health officials," said Cooper-Stokes.

Thursday afternoon's meeting will take place at City Hall. It is open to the public.
