College Football Playoff Trophy Tour making 3 stops in Mississippi

JACKSON (WLBT) - For many years the crystal football was the holy grail of college football. A new playoff means a new trophy. #1 Mississippi State and #4 Ole Miss are looking to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The new national championship trophy will make three stops in the Magnolia State this weekend. Fans can see it Friday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Wal-Mart in Flowood. You can also see it from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Wal-Mart in Madison. The tour is capped off with a stop at the #4 Ole Miss/#3 Auburn game. The trophy will be available for pictures from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

The trophy is on a season long tour, visiting marquee games and public events nationwide. Handmade from 24k gold, bronze and stainless steel, the trophy is 26.5 inches tall. The trophy is handcrafted by the master fine art foundry Polich Tallix in Rock Tavern, New York. Expert craftsmen worked three months to craft the trophy. Every year, a new trophy will be made. Each winning school keeps The National Championship Trophy for permanent display on campus.
