Speeds reach 100 mph in Ridgeland Police chase into Jackson

RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -  A high speed chase that started in Ridgeland has ended in Jackson, on Highway 49 north,  just south of Pinehaven Drive. One person is in custody.

Ridgeland Police say they stopped a driver with a warrant around 3:45 Friday afternoon.  The man began wrestling with a K-9 officer, and broke free The man got in his car and sped off with officers in pursuit.  The chase went on to I-220 then up highway 49. 

Police say the chase reached speeds of almost 100 miles per hour, with the suspect side swiping Ridgeland police cars.  The man fleeing then got in the southbound lane and began driving north against the traffic.  Police got him stopped a short time later. 

Nobody was hurt during the chase, but Ridgeland Police say they did have one vehicle that was disabled. 

We hope to learn his identity later.   The man is facing numerous charges.
