Sanderson Farms Championship announces 2014 field

JACKSON ( – The Sanderson Farms Championship is please to announce its 2014 player field.  Players new to the player field include David Toms, winner of 13 events on the PGA TOUR, including the 2001 PGA Championship; Nick Watney who has five PGA TOUR Victories including the 2012 Barclays Championship; Boo Weekley, 2013 Crowne Plaze Invitational champion; and Trevor Immelman, a South African native and champion at the 2008 Masters Tournament.

Additional commitments were made by Glen Day, a golf course architect and former MCI Classic champion who was raised in Poplarville, Mississippi, as well as two time Major Champion and Arkansas native, John Daly. The field also contains former World No. 1, David Duval, who won 13 PGA TOUR tournaments between 1997 and 2001 and won a major title at The Open Championship in 2001. Along with Duval, this year's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open champion, Ben Martin, has committed to the Sanderson Farms Championship field.

Other players who have joined the field include former Sanderson Farms Championship champion Cameron Beckman (2001) and Heath Slocum (2005), Cory Whitsett and Bobby Wyatt who each played on The University of Alabama's 2013 and 2014 National Championship golf teams, former Mississippi State University players, Matt Fast and Carlos Sainz, Jr., and Jonathan Randolph, a 2011 University of Mississippi graduate and Brandon, Miss., native.

Additional commitments include tournament past champions 2013 Valero Texas Open Champion Martin Laird, 2009 US Open Champion Lucas Glover, Jerry Kelly, Charles Howell III and Carl Pettersson.

Padraig Harrington highlights the list of players with Ryder Cup experience making early commitments to the tournament, including former U.S. Ryder Cup Team members Chris DiMarco (2004, 2006), J.J. Henry (2006), Jeff Overton (2010) and 2007 Past Champion Chad Campbell (2004, 2006, 2008).
