Heather Sophia's Forecast: A brief warm up underway

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Mostly clear skies will take over tonight. By morning, temperatures will be in the upper 30s.

Because we haven't received any significant rain in a long time, we'll need to be aware of dangerous fire weather. We encourage you to avoid any outdoor burning, especially since the humidity will be low and light easterly winds are expected, it won't take much for a fire to spread.

We'll continue with dry weather through Tuesday before our next rainmaker moves in. Afternoon highs will get closer to where we should be - low to mid 70s on Monday and mid to upper 70s on Tuesday. By Wednesday, a cold front will move through upping the rain chances and then cooling off to the upper 60s by Friday and into the weekend.

On Election Day, we can expect clouds to build in but the rain to stay away. Polls open at 7am and will close at 7pm. Temperatures by then will be in the low 70s under a mix of sun and clouds in the morning and more clouds by the afternoon and evening.
