Here's how you can check out world class golf in Jackson

The Sanderson Farms Championship officially kicked off at the Country Club of Jackson at 9:00 Monday morning.

The tournament features an exciting week of PGA golf in the Capital City.

The competition attracts some of the world's best golfers.
"132 players on the field, nine of those have won a major Championship," said Tournament Director Steve Jent.
This is the first year the Championship has come to Jackson. In the past Madison has been the host city.
"We're a great city, you know it's time for change and the Country Club of Jackson is a wonderful facility and will create the atmosphere they need to make the tournament successful," said Yolanda Moore, the Public Relations Manager for the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Sanderson Farms Championship pulls in millions of dollars for the state. It's also a major fundraiser for sick children at Batson Children's Hospital. Last year about $500,000 were donated to Friends of Children's Hospital.

Tournament officials say helping Batson is one reason they moved the tournament to the Capital City.
"Primarily to raise more funds for charity. Again the facility allows us to use those structures and then that's money that can be freed up to give to Friends of Children's Hospital," said Jent.
If you are interested in coming on out to the Country Club of Jackson this week you'll need to take a shuttle from Northpark Mall. Also if you're an active military member you can get into the tournament for free and veterans will get in for a discounted rate of $15.

Regular admission for adults is $25 and free for children under 15 years old.

Also, the shuttle from the mall is included in admission. For additional information go to
