A social networking website is helping take a bite out of crime for one Jackson neighborhood. This website is called Nextdoor. It's kind of a neighborhood watch Facebook page, where residents can post information.

This week it helped police catch two men wanted for breaking in to homes in Belhaven. Jackson police say they arrested two teens, 18 year old Damario Webster, and another 16 year old. They're charged with burglary and trespassing in a stolen car.

Residents in Belhaven started sharing information about a rash of break ins Monday, using the website, and the mobile app. They also shared all that information and details about the vehicle the suspects were driving with police, who found the two at a local business, and placed them under arrest.

Residents say more than 1000 residents in the Belhaven area are participating on the website, working to keep their neighborhoods crime free.?

"It's wonderful to be able to have that immediate information as opposed to hearing about it after the fact and to be able to know it's time to be looking out for your neighbors, and keep your eyes open and report anything suspicious," said Judith Thompson.

Nextdoor says there are 45,000 neighborhoods across the nation using their website to connect residents.

Jackson Police also report that Demario Webster had a felony arrest warrant out of Clinton, so that department was already looking to get him off the streets.
