JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Investigators are still searching for at least two people involved in a gun battle outside a north Jackson restaurant. Police say two people tried to settle an argument by shooting at each other just outside the crowded Chili's restaurant on Briarwood drive just before 6 Wednesday evening.

"Gunfire was exchanged, one subject opened fire on another subject who returned fire," said Deputy Chief Amy Barlow. "No one was struck. A vehicle in the parking lot of Chili's was struck and a business across the street."

The result, a shattered car window, and the window of the I-hop restaurant across the street was also broken, but nobody shot.  A day after in the parking lot the remnants of the violence, .45 caliber shell casings scattered about.  Cameras on the Chili's building caught images of the shooting as it occurred.

"That's part of our investigation," added Barlow. "We do have surveillance video from inside the business, in the parking lot of the business, and from nearby businesses, so we feel strong that we're going to make an arrest."

We obtained surveillance video from a nearby business. You can see one of the suspected shooters duck behind a truck, while a white sedan, possibly driven by another shooter, leaves the parking lot in a hurry.

"It's unfortunate it played out like it did in a public place where families come," said Barlow. "Luckily nobody was injured, so that is the saving grace."

Jackson police say a shooting earlier in the day at Quick Food Mart on Bounds Street, was not connected to the Chili's shooting.
