Elderly man dies in Jackson house fire

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Arson investigators are still determining the cause of a deadly house fire that claimed the life of an elderly man Saturday afternoon.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart identified the fire victim as 82-year-old Albert Reed.

The fire happened shortly after 10 a.m. at this home in the 62 hundred block of Brown Street.

When fire crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.

They also found Reed's body. 

Investigators said what exactly caused the fire is still not clear.

Arson Chief Investigator Gregory Travis said, "Right now we know the fire originated in what appears to be a bedroom, exact cause remains under investigation at this time"

Firefighters were busy Saturday afternoon putting out hot spots.
