MS Bureau of Narcotics arrests 32/confiscates 1,367 pot plants

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics says a six-month campaign against marijuana growers brought 32 arrests and 1,367 confiscated plants.

Bureau director Sam Owens says investigators seized plants in 21 counties.

He says the campaign, paid for by a grant, used a state Highway Patrol helicopter to help the bureau's spotters, who were on the ground.

The counties listed for marijuana confiscations included DeSoto. But Sheriff Bill Rasco said neither he nor the department's Special Investigations Bureau had been notified. He praised the eradication program.

Also listed as counties where marijuana was found were Tippah, Bolivar, Harrison, Clay, Monroe, Pontotoc, Union, Lee, Rankin, Lafayette, Hinds, George, Simpson, Noxubee, Yalobusha, Grenada, Holmes, Wayne and Benton.

Some of the people were arrested in counties other than those.
