Folks in Byram say they have water once again after it was shut off Saturday morning.

A Jackson Public Works employee told 3 On Your Side the water was shut off because the cold weather caused a water main to break.

Work crews had water restored by Sunday morning.

One resident told us she had to miss work Sunday because her water is brown.

But that's not what angers her most.

She says nobody with Jackson Public Works contacted her.

"I actually was in the process of going to wash some dishes, and I checked the water. I'm thinking something was wrong with the system at first, but hadn't nobody the citizens or anything to let us know, the residents, to let us know anything about the water," said the Lake Dockery resident.

The state department of health says about a 1,000 customers in the south Jackson/Byram area are now under a boil water notice.

That includes a portion of South Siwell Road, Churchill Place, Hollow Pine Street and Hollow Pine Road, and the Lake Dockery subdivision.
