First Lucky Run for a good cause

Runners and sports fans, make plans to spend November 15 at the first Lucky 7 Run, a seven-mile charity race across the Ross Barnett Reservoir that will honor local law enforcement agencies and benefit Special Olympics Mississippi.

The inaugural Lucky 7 Run will kick off at 3 p.m. at Legend's Bar & Grill on Lakeland Drive in Flowood with a ceremonial lighting of the Special Olympics torch and take runners across the spillway to McB's Grill in Ridgeland for an indoor/outdoor after-party with live music from Lucky Hand Blues Band and the Mississippi State vs. Alabama football game on a giant outdoor screen.

Special Olympics Mississippi is welcoming runners of all ages to participate as individuals or on relay teams for the seven-mile run. There's even a Poker Run edition, a high-stakes version on the same course that gives runners a chance to collect poker cards for a chance to win a grand prize. There will also be a one-mile Fun Run.

Shuttles provided by Cline Tours and Watson Quality Ford will be available to transport runners, volunteers and spectators from both restaurants and along the course.

Runners can register online at the Special Olympics Mississippi website. Please visit the website for more information and rules.
