MSU #1, Ole Miss #10 in College Football Playoff Top 25

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The third College Football Playoff Top 25 poll was released on Tuesday. Seven SEC teams are ranked in the poll. Mississippi State remains #1 after beating UT-Martin. The Bulldogs will face #5 Alabama on Saturday.

Ole Miss moved up a spot to #10 after their win over Presbyterian plus Notre Dame and Kansas State losing. The Rebels have a bye week, they'll travel to Arkansas on November 22nd.

The College Football Playoff committee will release a Top 25 on November 4th, November 11th, November 18th, November 25th, and on December 2nd. The 12 members are emphasizing head-to-head results, conference champions, and strength of schedule. Head-to-head may be the reason why Ole Miss is in the top 4. The Rebels 23-17 victory over Alabama on October 4th could be a tiebreaker down the road.

Selection Sunday is set for December 7th. On that day the committee will select the top 4 teams for the playoff (semifinals are Sugar & Rose Bowls). They will also select the teams for the Fiesta, Orange, Cotton, and Peach Bowls.
