Shooting victim charged in early morning murder

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police have charged 18-year-old Quwandarius Allen with murder and aggravated assault in connection with an early morning shooting in south Jackson.

Gunfire erupted, leaving one person dead, and two others in the hospital. Jackson police have identified the murder victim as 39-year-old Delvin Johnson. He was shot multiple times.

Investigators say the shooting happened just before 5 am, at 1735 Waycona Drive. Eighteen year-old Quwandarius Allen, and 59-year-old Earl Clark were also shot in the home. Their injuries were non-life threatening.

During the course of the preliminary investigation, police learned that there was an altercation that occurred between several subjects within the residence. At least one of the individuals produced a handgun and fired several shots injuring Mr. Clark and fatally wounding Mr. Johnson.

Detectives were able to identify Quwandarius Allen as the person responsible for this incident. Mr. Allen was also shot during this incident. He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment where he remains in stable condition.

Detectives have charged Mr. Quwandarius Allen with the charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault. This investigation is still ongoing.
