Ridgeland's 2014 Tropical Christmas Parade Announced

The city of Ridgeland is in the holiday spirit. They've announced plans for their 2014 holiday parade. This year's parade theme is "A Tropical Christmas". The parade kicks off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6th.

Lawrence County native and NBA standout Eric Dampier will serve as this year's Grand Marshall. Dampier recently retired from the NBA after playing for 17 years. He was a 10th lottery pick in 1996 and played his rookie season with the Indiana Pacers. He has also played with the Golden State Warriors, the Dallas Mavericks, the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks.

Dampier was also a member of the memorable 1996 Mississippi State University Final Four basketball team. He now lives in Ridgeland with his wife Yolanda and their 3 children.

The Christmas parade will begin at the Holmes Community College Campus in Ridgeland. The parade will begin eastbound on Ridgeland Avenue, turn southbound on Maple Street, then turn westbound on Jackson Street, then northbound on Sunnybrook Road and finish back at Holmes Community College. West Jackson Street will be closed from Sunnybrook Road to Maple Street during the parade.
