Tattoo laser might repair acne scars

A laser used to remove unwanted tattoos could reduce acne scarring as well.

Researchers tested the laser, that uses lower doses of energy, on 15 men and women with facial acne scarring. After six treatments, all of the patients were satisfied to extremely satisfied with the improvement in their appearance. Satisfaction continued even three months later.

Dermatologists who looked at photographs of the patients found a 25% to 50% improvement in scarring after all six treatments.

This study was led by researchers at Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York and published in 'JAMA Dermatology.'
