Governor wants criteria changed

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - As the Mississippi Community College Board prepares to select a new executive director, Governor Phil Bryant is requesting a change in requirements for the job.

In a letter we obtained, the governor cites minimum qualifications are virtually unchanged from those adopted in 1992. The governor wants the board to reassess the existing job description and broaden the focus to include experience related to workforce training and development.

Eric Clark, the outgoing executive director, has served in that post since 2008. The deadline for applications for the new director was today at p.m..

The board will meet Friday morning at 9.
