Security guard shoots man who reportedly opened fire in club parking lot

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Jackson police say a security guard returned gunfire, shooting a man in the parking lot of a night club.

J.P.D. Officer Colendula Green said the shots were fired at Freelon's Bar & Groove.

According to police, a 34-year-old man approached the security officer with a weapon and fired shots.

The security officer reportedly heard the shots and fired at the man, striking him multiple times in the buttocks area.

Investigators said the shooting victim's injuries are not life threatening.

No arrests have been made at this time.
