JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The homeless in Jackson were treated to a five star Thanksgiving feast Sunday at Poindexter Park.

Tents were set up to feed the homeless and less fortunate in the community during "Thanksgiving in the Park".

The Healing Place of Jackson, which feeds the community each Sunday at the park, provided the full service traditional holiday meal.

About 50 people enjoyed the food, music and entertainment Sunday afternoon.

The Healing Place is an outreach ministry which helps the homeless find emergency shelter, affordable housing and other services.

"Today we wanted to set aside so we could really serve. We can't take them to the five star restaurants, so we brought the five star restaurant to them...Jackson has over 3,000 homeless to date that we know of, and there are always the ones we don't know of. So it's a big issue," said Pastor Putalamus White of the Healing Place of Jackson.

This is the third year for Thanksgiving feast in Poindexter Park.
