After thirty years in law enforcement Flowood Police Chief Johnny DeWitt is retiring to start up a new career in the private sector.

Flowood Mayor Gary Rhoads said Chief DeWitt announced his retirement during Monday night's board meeting.
Rhoads said DeWitt has been a remarkable Chief over the past 14 years and "will be deeply missed as the leader of the Flowood Police Department."

Mayor Rhoads said he hired DeWitt in 1985 and fully supports DeWitt's decision to move into the private sector.

Chief DeWitt's last day with the Flowood Police Department is December 31st.
